The 2010 awards are the ninth year of the Indie RPG Awards, as indie RPGs continue to mature and change. Last year the field was split between many games, but this year there was a clear leader for Game of the Year. Other games were definitely recognized, but favor was split among them. There was more of a split for the other awards - though the game of the year also took Best Support and Most Innovative. A relatively new trend was games for the young or young at heart - with strong showings Daniel Solis' Happy Birthday Robot and Emily Care Boss and Epidiah Ravachol's Dread House. Traditional RPGs were recognized in Kevin Crawford's Stars Without Number taking Best Free Game, and Tim Kirk's High Valor tied for 5th place in Game of the Year.
