Blowback |
Elizabeth Shoemaker Sampat |
Blowback is a game where you play spies blacklisted after a job goes awry, and the people who care about them. You can play this game with 3-5 people, and while playing it as a single game session is fun, it's designed for long term play. It's heavily inspired by the American television show Burn Notice and movies like the Bourne trilogy. As much as Blowback is about pyrotechnics and car chases, it's a fish-out-of-water premise: spies stranded without their agency, normal people swept up in intrigue. And, like all multiplayer games, it's about relationships -- how much can you ask of someone, how much can you disappoint them before they turn their back on you? |

Society of Dreamers |
Matthijs Holter |
The Society of Dreamers is a role-playing game about a little-known group that formed in Europe in the early 19th century. This group seems to have studied dream phenomena – specifically, they seem to have held the belief that there were autonomous life forms living in people’s dreams. The Society called these creatures mnemosites – dream eaters. However, it seems that the Society may not have seen the mnemosites as a danger. Sources indicate that the members sought to find and understand mnemosites, using the scientific tools available in their times. |

Nordic Larp |
Jaakko Stenros & Markus Montola |
Steampunk starships. In the Nordic countries, live-action role-playing has developed into a unique and powerful form of expression. Dance of the Damned |
Andrew Peregrine |
A plague sweeps the land, but you are safe within the walls of a great castle. However, you may not be as safe as you think, for the spectres of fear and decadence walk where the plague has been denied. Dance of the Damned is a storytelling game based on Edgar Allan Poe's classic gothic tale 'The Masque of the Red Death.' It uses a standard deck of cards to create a framework for the players to narrate the tale of their characters, trapped together in a castle where the wine and vice desperatly try to mask the fear and paranoia. The game requires 3 or more players, no Gamemaster, a deck of playing cards and decadent amounts of devious storytelling. |

Twenty-Four Game Poems |
Marc Majcher |
This is a small volume of game poems that were written in the first half of 2010, edited and compiled into handy booklet format for your carrying around and playing enjoyment. The games don't require anything that you wouldn't normally have at hand - pens and paper, coins or tokens, a regular deck of playing cards, or normal six-sided dice. The topics run from goofy ("Buster") to thoughtful ("The Leaves Will Bury") to horrible ("The Sign of the Great Old Elder God From Beyond") to heartbreaking ("Goofball"). A "game poem", or "role-playing poem" is a little game that you can pick up and play in fifteen minutes or so. There's no preparation time, nothing to get between you and immediate fun. Game poems usually address some specific mood or emotion, or focus on one particular theme. First and foremost, a game poem is just there to be taken in and experienced with a friend or group of friends for a few moments, and hopefully, something small and wonderful will happen in the process. |

D. Vincent Baker |
Something’s wrong with the world and I don’t know what it is. It used to be better, of course it did. Children were born happy and grew up rich. Now that’s now what we’ve got. Now we’ve got this. Hardholders stand against the screaming elements and all comers, keeping safe as many as they can. Angels and savvyheads run constant battle against there’s not enough and bullets fly and everything breaks. Hocuses gather people around them, and are they protectors, saviors, visionaries, or just wishful thinkers? Choppers, gunluggers and battlebabes carve out what they can and defend it with blood and bullets. Drivers and operators search and scavenge, looking for that opportunity, that one perfect chance. Skinners remember beauty, or invent beauty anew, cup it in their hands and whisper come and see, and don’t worry now about what it will cost you. And brainers, oh, brainers see what none of the rest of us will: the world’s psychic maelstrom, the terrible desperation and hate pressing in at the edge of all perception, it is the world now. And you, who are you? This is what we’ve got, yes. What are you going to make of it? |

Dragons at Dawn: The First Fantasy Game System |
D.H. Boggs |
Welcome to Dave Arnesons Basement! It’s 1971 and you’ve been invited to play this cool new game… Experience the thrill of the very first fantasy RPG adventures with Dragons at Dawn, the rule set that harkens back to the early days of adventure gaming when everything was new and the possibilities endless. Dragons at Dawn is a retro tribute to the very first fantasy gaming system pioneered by Dave Arneson, the man who later went on to co-author the worlds most popular roleplaying game. The result of years of careful historical research, Dragons at Dawn is entirely consistent with Arneson’s original, largely forgotten methods of play developed roughly in the period 1970-1973. Dragons at Dawn approaches gaming with none of the assumptions and habits developed from later rules, allowing a return to a kind of free form and open style of interaction between players and referees to develop and play whatever aspects of fantasy adventure gaming the players like best. |

FUBAR |
Michael Wenman |
You've been screwed... At least one person wants you dead... The only people you almost trust are people who don't necessarily trust you... but you've got skills and talents that might just get you through... ...might just let you get some revenge... ...and might let you achieve your destiny. Fubar is a low-preparation role-playing game focusing on a group of talented individuals who have been betrayed by the people they trust. Using the Cyberpunk ethos of "Style over Substance" it provides a rough framework to tell a tale of revenge, deliberately leaving out certain key elements so that players can customise their game at the start of each play session. Character creation is quick (a name, four words and a sentence describing a goal) but as a game session progresses, these outlines are coloured and shaded to reveal complex figures desperately seeking vengeance and redemption. |
